Here are the different steps in the creation of the cover of Volume 1 of Terra Prohibita. Album published by Glénat in January 2021.
Cover of the album Terra tome 1, published by Glénat in january 2021.
On this first cover proposal, I wanted to present the first concepts of marine and aerial cities linked by Victorian-style elevators. But also the main characters of the story in the form of a portrait strip.
In this second proposal I wanted to represent an important scene in history, where our heroes make the discovery of what is at the origin of their adventure. This sequence takes place in the heart of Paris.
Here I wanted to repeat the previous sequence, but from a different angle.
The publisher has chosen this sketch for the cover design. I put all the elements of the title on it so that we have a better idea of what it could look like.
Then I made the drawing in its final version. For the different buildings I was inspired by those from the time of the great world exhibitions.
And finally the colouring, which we had done by an Italian studio, Arancia Studio.
It was a great collaboration made of several instructive feedbacks to achieve a result that satisfied us all.
